About Eden

Eden is a game developed on the basic principle of survival, the main goal of the game is simply to survive. However, a second catalyst for the development of the game is to experiment with emergent gameplay. Eden is a living, breathing simulated world. There are a variety of gameplay systems incorporated into the world that allow things to be possible that weren't necessarily outright designed into the game, but rather emerge from how a player interacts with the game.

I've crafted this game without providing a lot of information to the player because the less a player knows, other than the basic input and controls, the more the player is able to discover things on their own and at their own pace. The most rewarding aspect of playing games, particularly simulations is the sense of discovery that awaits with each new game.

Status

Currently the game is very early in it's development but it is playable with the simple goal being to survive. I plan to release new versions of the game periodically as new features are implemented into the game.

In general, Eden will probably never be finished, I do not look at this as a bad thing but as a very liberating thing in terms of a game. Aside from MMO type games, any game you purchase off the shelf generally comes to some logical programmed conclusion and that's the end of the game. Eden is a game that will not have a programmed conclusion and will be playable for as long as the player wishes to play, they may set their own goals and attempt to achieve them as they wish. I intend to continue improving and implement new features as time goes on, so in this respect, the game will continuously be evolving lasting far longer than the shelf-life of any off the sheld game does.

Dislaimer

Eden is an experimental game and is literally being developed by just myself, therefore it is completely likely that through playing the game you will encounter and experience crashes. I have done and will continue to do everything in my power to ensure these types of issues occur as little as possible but just be aware that it will likely occur and to be proactive about it and help me reproduce and fix them for the betterment of the game.

As this game will be in constant development and I will be releasing periodic new downloads of the game as I see fit, I am not going to expend extra effort in order to ensure that saves from old games will still work with a new version. While this is possible, I think the time involved to support 'backward compatability' is not worth that same amount of effort going to improve and extend the existing game.

Thanks!

I want to give a special thank you to the following friends and family for supporting me and inspiring me to pursue the creation of this game as well as my many other forays into gaming and hobbying that never see the light of day, I truly and honestly appreciate it and thank you.

A Note About Donations

I am actively taking donations for this project. While your not required to do so, I do encourage donations if you want to support the continued development of this game and my efforts.
